The tiny little numeric keyboard for entering the 6 digit pairing code was perhaps a little unnecessary, but that'll only happen once so hardly the end of the world.įunctionality wise, it does all I wanted. I'm pleased to report it works very well.
This Satechi seemed to be small and cheap enough that I wouldn't mind too much if it didn't work out, and had favourable reviews from the Apple lot so I gave it a go. There seem to be quite a few people after such a device, but not many manufacturers producing them, so I was limited on choices. Whilst this is fine at home, when driving having to reach and jab buttons on the phone was not a satisfactory solution, so I set out to find a bluetooth remote. I've installed a bluetooth amplifier in my car and also have a bluetooth receiver going into my home stereo, so as you've probably guessed, I tend to play most of my music from my phone.

I purchased this remote to see if it would work as a simple bluetooth remote for my Android phone. Please let me know if you've found a way to get the zoom function working.
When using the camera in video mode, the remote only gives me control for start/stop recording. On the LG's stills-camera, I just have shutter control (including 'burst' shots, achieved by holding the shutter-button down) but I do not get any zoom control, which is a pity because that's what I was really after (zooming with the camera on a tripod, for taking images of plants). I find that when using a music app (Spotify) I have volume and track control, even when I'm playing the music through Bluetooth stereo speakers (two Sony SRS-XB10's). So, if you do have a bit of trouble getting connected, give it a few tries before giving up. However, on the last attempt the phone showed that the remote was both paired AND connected, and it worked OK. I unpaired and re-paired the remote a few times with the same result. This did not work and the remote appeared to be dead / not functioning. There seemed to be no problem pairing it to the phone (simply following the instructions that came with it), but after pairing, the phone would not actually connect to it successfully and instructed me to hit any of the keys on the remote's keypad to get connected. It does work, thought it took a few goes to get it working. I've just tried this on an LG G6 running Android 7.0 (Nougat). The pros can make the switch to Windows as I have done.[[ASIN:B00824948U Satechi Bluetooth Multi-Media Remote Control for 2017 tested on Android. Mac Pop and MacBook Pop would be suiting. I think Apple should change its product names.

As for the Mac Pro, no, I would have liked to purchase an update to the old Mac Pro design with modern components and the possibility to expand it with PCIe cards, something professionals usually do. To me Apple's drive for slimness is a foolish obsession when it comes to advanced video and photo editing needs.

Also true that a powerful PC notebook would be nearly as pricy as a MBP, but only if I would want it to be as absurdly slim as a MBP. True, the Apple of today is not the Apple it used to be. I understand your frustration but in the end you got to go with the tools that are available to you now. You seem to be looking for a new Mac Pro. Tried it also with MS surfacebook and found it to be more expensive than a similar MBP. And you'll find out that Macs are very well priced. Try speccing a similar windows laptop for example, with SSD onto PCIe with same amount of memory etc. The bulk of their users now are mainstream.Īs far as you paying more for a Mac than a similar Windows machine, that's an ancient myth.

So I doubt they'll ever tell you how to switch from a Mac to Windows.Īs far as you being a Mac user for 25 years, well Apple was a very different company back then.
It's probably my mistake to expect a smart phone company to deliver powerful stationary computers for creative professionals like I ) Nowadays I'd pay a multitude for an inferior Apple machine. Back in the day the Mac was a serious offer for people like me. This is after 25 years of exclusive Mac usage. I maxed it out with components I'd not even be able to put in a Mac, with the exception of an outdated Mac Pro. I'd be much more interested in a description of the reverse switch since I just bought a used Dell workstation for video and photo editing.
